TxtMovieClub.com — An SMS Start-up Success

June 21, 2007

One of our most successful start-up clients this year has been TxtMovieClub.com. Using our InstaConnect product, which is a mobile messaging API for developers, Kevin Fauth and the team at TxtMovieClub have created a compelling service for movie buffs and subscriber numbers are truly skyrocketing. Users of the service receive SMS invitations to sneak previews and other events, as well as regular text-to-win contests for a variety of film-related prizes.

After running the service locally in Arizona for almost a year, TxtMovieClub has attracted a rabid following of both users and sponsors and is now expanding fast into other major metro markets.

SMS Property Listings Gaining Steam…

June 15, 2007

It seems like every other day we’re turning up an account for a new Realty firm who wants to incorporate SMS marketing keywords onto their ‘for sale’ signs. This seems to be an application which is really gaining steam in the U.S  — the keyword and short code are advertised on the for sale sign, and prospective buyers can send a text message for instant information on the house. In some cases, photos and/or a link to a WAP site with more information are also delivered in addition to the SMS response. Currently we’re working with regional offices for virtually all of the major real estate brokerage firms including Prudential, Coldwell, etc. Below is a photo provided by one of our realty clients who is pursuing this avenue.

Blogosphere Meets SMS

June 2, 2007

Our latest project in conjunction with Apple fellow Guy Kawasaki is truly awesome. Guy is launching Truemors.com, a next generation community blog which enables users to post messages via a variety of different mechanisms including — voice, web, email, and SMS. We were asked to build the SMS blog posting interface for the site.

To post to the site via SMS, users simply text the keyword ’2020′ followed by any text to the short code 55022. Within seconds, the blog post will appear on the Truemors site.

From a technical perspective this was one of the most intriguing projects we’ve done all year, but even more exciting was the opportunity to work with Guy Kawasaki — a true legend in the technology world, and more importantly a truly kind and amazing person/philanthropist.
